I'm really excited and a lot nervous too. I work at a DV shelter and a few months ago our program decided to hire men to work in direct service positions. Well, the time has come and our first male advocate starts today. He's only part time, for now. I know that some (probably all) of the women are going to have an issue with this. I know that some of our crisis callers won't want to talk to him.
So what I'm wondering is, do any of your programs have men working directly with DV/SA survivors? Where you there for the change? How did it go? Were there any problems that you didn't forsee? What has the feedback been from your clients?
